OBJECT TO COUNCIL's proposed OVERFILL OF DINGLEY VILLAGE with THREE STOREY Buildings
Council’s highly intrusive Rezoning proposals for all of Kingston are claimed to meet meet State Government requirements for higher density. We say council has exceeded the density and residents are appalled at what they see, like three stories proposed along most of Centre Dandenong road, which is predominately single storey at present. Dingley Village is Victoria’s only Village and infrastructure is at it’s limits. Also thousands of residents chose to live in Dingley Village because of the Village Character.
These proposals destroy Neighbourhood Character. Kingston Council asked residents for feedback, including through staged meetings. Resident's feedback was universal - they don’t want high-density, multi-storey, overloaded infrastructure, hugely inadequate parking and Neighbourhood Character destroying plans. A waste of time and resources, as council later released their final draft rezoning proposal, with Neighbourhood Character destroyed by big increases in height and density.

After winning round one of the Save Kingswood overdevelopment, we are facing another scandalous overdevelopment of Dingley Village.
Object now! Or disasters like three stories along most of Centre Dandenong road will become law!
THIS IS NOT A DRILL! COUNCIL HAS THE PROPOSED PLANS IN PRINT
See our objection form below
Below are a number of quotes by Kevin Poulter from the Dingley Village Community Association (DVCA) No rezoning committee:
The lack of information supplied to residents is scandalous. We have asked multiple times for enlarged clear maps, like those on the Bayside site, however this week I received a “better” map that shows Dingley Village as about 1/7th of the area on the map! A magnifying glass is needed to see detail. It’s very likely therefore important details are missing!
Has council done enough? No! Not for such life-changing plans. Council did stage some information sessions, but many residents did not see the notifications and those who did didn't realise it was vital they object. This was confirmed by a show of hands at two recent meetings where many indicated they did not receive the Leader or Kingston your City. The few Dingley Village residents who saw the maps council supplied, could not work them out, as they lack the detail needed and easy to follow explanation of the Zonings.
Council’s highly intrusive Rezoning proposals for all of Kingston are claimed to meet meet State Government requirements for higher density. Council has not reached a high percentage of Kingston residents, as residents have not seen or read and understood the implications of the rezoning. The maps of the Dingley Village general area are not clear enough and explained in planning language. We asked for better area maps, like those in Bayside, but we continue to wait. Dingley Village is unique in Victoria and these new planning zones will destroy that. Once these proposals as placed in law, residents cannot object to say, a three storey building going up beside them.
These proposals destroy Neighbourhood Character. Kingston Council asked residents for feedback, including through staged meetings. Resident's feedback was universal - they don’t want high-density, multi-storey, overloaded infrastructure, hugely inadequate parking and Neighbourhood Character destroying plans. Well that was a waste of time and resources, as council later released their final draft rezoning proposal, with Neighbourhood Character destroyed by big increases in height and density.
Are Dingley Village residents being under-informed by Council not revealing all, especially detailed maps? The Kingston Planning Department says individuals can visit a site and enter their address, to see how badly individual homes will be affected. But residents are entitled to see the overall picture, (as available on the Bayside site). They are entitled to know about “Neighbourhood Character”, - for example “are there three stories a couple of streets away? Plans include three storey buildings along most of Centre Dandenong road Dingley Village.
